A permanent residence permit (karta pobytu stałego) entitles you to live in Poland indefinitely without needing to renew your permit every few years. Polish Language Requirement

Applicants on the 5-year residence path must demonstrate Polish language proficiency at A2 level. Acceptable evidence includes a state-recognised Polish language certificate or a diploma from a school with Polish as the language of instruction.

1. Submit your application in person at the Voivodeship Office (Urząd Wojewódzki) responsible for your place of residence — ideally 3–4 months before your current permit expires
2. Attach all required documents and pay the stamp duty (340 PLN for the card)
3. You will be called in to provide fingerprints when collecting the card
4. Processing time: 3 to 12 months (often longer in major cities)
5. Once a positive decision is issued, collect your permanent residence card
